The Unseen War
We have been going through a sermon series on Spiritual Warfare at church looking at Ephesians 6. There are three things to note:
- Our struggle is not against flesh and blood.
- There is an adversary.
- The authority we have in Christ.
There are six things which Paul has listed to what we should use when we go into battle. These individual pieces of armour was what was common in the days back then where Roman soldiers were common. The items are what is made
- Belt of truth
- Breastplate of righteousness
- Sandals of peace
- Shield of faith
- Helmet of salvation
- Sword of the Spirit.
The first three were covered today with the last three covered next week. We were looking at what does this mean for us in todays age and time. For each of the first three, there are affirmations that we use:
- Belth of Truth: I acknowledge what God says is true and I choose to live by it regardless of how I feel.
- Breatplate of Righteousness: I am a child of God, righteous in Jesus Christ and I choose to do what is right.
- Sandals of Peace: I am confident and secure in Jesus Christ and His promises I know I am forgiven and that God is for me.
Wow. It's Quiet Here...
